Middle age spread??
Question: well i walk run and climb stairs 3 nights a week in my job as a nurse step every day, don't drink or very little, eat fresh fruit and veg and always believed it was something u got with a sedentary life style.............. so where am i going wrong?................... i am getting fat
Answers: Eat less food maybe? We do need less the older we get, irrespective of how 'healthy' the food you eat is.
Everybody else suddenly takes up excessive exercise (you see them out running etc), do gentle exercise that you enjoy and contiue as you are in the the knowledge that you cannot fight time and aging, and anyone that tells you that you can is themselves in denial
Thank god for that, I'm the only bloke I know, who doesn't drink and yet still has a beer belly.
Try drinking alot of water, vitamins with ecgc in them, and green tea....
You and I must be about the same age! I have the same frustrations about my body as you do! I finally get through the 'journey' of menopause and am 'rewarded' with 20 extra pounds! Life isn't fair! :o)
This is what my trainer told me, though it may not work the same for you because of your shift work:
Eat a healthy breakfast, a good sized lunch and a smaller dinner then don't eat anything else during the evening. Watch the carbs, fats and sugars. Energy bars are full of sugar and carbs. Don't eat the 'whites'....... sugar, flour, etc.
I don't drink coffee so I insisted that I NEEDED my orange juice in the morning. She said to drink only water for the rest of the day, and lots of it. She also suggested I exercise first thing in the morning but, yawn, I just can't....... :o) A couple of hours later is fine.
Do at least 3 - 30 to 45 minute cardio workouts during the week keeping my pulse in the 130's. Also do 3 weight workouts as well, either on different days or whatever works for me. We have to prevent osteoporosis, now don't we?
Knowing what I SHOULD do and DOING it are two different things! Bring on the chocolate, though only once a week!! :o) Good luck..... I can empathize! I don't want to age gracefully, I'd rather fight it all the way!! :o)
It's not just middle age that have the problem. Have you stopped to look at some of the teenagers today? Don't give up on the walking and healthy eating and keep positive. Most women (and men) look more attractive with a little bit of flesh.
we get to a point in our lives where certain things slow down and other things speed up. Age is creeping up on you and it's settling in your butt.... what was your mom like at the same age? Keep the metabolism cranked up. work day shift and not nite shift. What do you do the other 4 nites? It may be genetics: Mom/Dad got a big O booty....you may too.
Perhaps you need a bit more night-time activity, if you know what I mean?
there is one thing and one thing only to get rid of a paunchy tummy and that is stomach crunches. they are boring and can be quite hard to do but worth it if u need to get rid of a tummy.
u r defiantely in a routine and need to do these stomach crunches. i hate doing them i really do but what else is there? nothing!
There is nothing wrong with you.
You have done a very good job.
What I think is you have to find sometime to do exercise.
Not the kind of activities when you work.
It is different.
Your mind knows that you are working.
When you exercise, the feeling is more relax.
u have a routine..u must break it.mix it up. i had that problem once to..and be careful some medications make u gain weight that is where i got mine now i am mixin things up with walkin for an hr on the tread and usin the ab lounge and tei bo tapes too. but not doin the same thing each day..mix it up.
Walking and running is normal activity.
You need more.
Try digging the garden and don't give up even when you are ready to.
You will notice a difference in a week.
As you get older your body requires less calories and if you keep eating the same then you can gain about 2 lbs each year. It's also compounded by a reduction in muscle mass, which in turn requires less calories.
I think that the best approach would be do some resistance training to build your muscles up a bit, not so that you look like Arnie, just to counteract the natural process. Otherwise it's a simple case of eating less calories, or doing more excercise!
