I need some more help...??
Question: Ok I finally want to be a confident person! I like school but I hate how I look because I found out I am overweight a bit and I hate my horribly poofy, curly,thick hair. I wanna lose about 18-20 pounds by Thanksgiving or so, but Is dieting not safe? I am 13 years of age. I make straight A grades and for once in my life i want to feel pretty. What about clothes?????

OK. In order to lose weight, you would have to eat fewer calories than your energy level requires. Get a little notebook and write down everything you eat right before or after you eat it. Be honest. Go to calorieking.com and search their free database for how many calories you have eaten. Do this for a week and you will realize if you are eating unnecessary calories. Try to find things that taste good but cost too many calories. Hint: Fruit and veggies have way fewer calories, and are full of vitamins.
If you are drinking soda, stop NOW! Soda is full of sugar and calories. A can of Coke has 143 calories. Orange Fanta = 164 calories. Water = 0 calories!
Also, coffee drinks! A grande Mocha Frap = 250 calories!
Get the picture? You will lose more weight more consistently if you just eat nutritionally dense foods. More importantly, that is how you KEEP it off...that is how grownups who are thin and fit stay that way.
Oh, yeah...the fit part. Can you walk your dog? No dog? Can you grab a friend and go for a walk each evening after dinner? Everyone says we should go do something active 30 minutes/day.
Regarding your hair...can you ask you mom/dad to let you get a haircut? Maybe you can blow dry and curl/iron it smooth? Cut out magazine pix of girls who has hair you want, and take it to a stylist one time. Let him/her cut it and show you how to style it.
What about clothes? What are they wearing that you like?
If you have the patience, check out the Goodwill/Salvation Army stores. You have to weed through a lot of junk, but sometimes a jewel that fits is in there for you.

Everyone I thought hated me talked to me like an old pal and how much they admired me because I was smart.
Don't get me wrong, losing weight is a great goal, and I wish you well at it, but that is not all there is about confidence. I still didn't feel confident when I lost the weight and was heading towards 30. I met my wife, and she showed me that I had plenty to be confident about, I was really worth something. She showed my all my strengths and my value. I'm 50 now, and still not overweight, well, not really ;), and still feel good about myself.
If you want to lose weight, talk to you parents and see a doctor, some diets are safe but others, especially the fad diets can be dangerous.

look stop stressin! I have hair just like yours! And my hair is gorgeous! Just buy this stuff called curls rock and all that. And buy this stuff called stay straight. And buy paul mitchel leave in conditioner and u have to use pantene to wash your hair! And comb your hair out with a tooth comb and after u get out of the shower put in curls rock then stay staright creme then paul mitchel leave in conditioner. and when u comb out your hair in the shower comb it under the shower with the conditioner in it! Then after there no nots DO NOT COMB IT AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT!!!! then ask your mom if u can have 200 dollars to go shopping or wait for your birthday. And go to the mall and go shopping at limited too or girl mania and just shop! Its a great place im 11 years old and i do all this stuff and i am so awesome! And have tons of friends!ad just shop for anything u think is cute not your old taste but the new taste buy some lip gloss some cute dc shoes or converse and some ear rings if u dont have ur ears pierced PIERCE THEM! and after u r done shopping go to tillys and look at there clothes! BUt when u r at the mall go to mac and buy som makeup make sure of that! Then go to claires and get some silver hoop or wateva! I hope this helped when i had a makeover like this is so helped!
