What did u do to go easy on the carbs??
Question: i dont want to cut out all carbs from my diet, but i am eating way to many of them and id like to cut back, i have a life long habit to carbs and i just want to take it easy!
Please share how u steered away from them. I would perfer answers that dont say i just stopped or etc., thanks!
Answers: I avoid the word 'and'.
I want a burger AND fries.
I'd like the beef sandwich AND pizza puff, chicken AND biscuits.
By avoiding the 'and' you by default skip the stuff with the most carbs. Once you get used to that it gets easier to avoid them.
And on the plus side, you get more for your money. The stuff high in carbs is cheap filler. While I love fresh bread, it's just cheap filler. The reason why the fast food joint is pushing the value meal is because they get wealthy. That soda costs them about a half-cent, and the fries, what's 8 ounces of potato worth? And they have the nerve to ask for $1.50 or more for fries?
You just have to make it a point to cut back.
Use good bread, and read the label carefully, there's only a few out there that do not contain high fructose corn syrup.
Drink Kool-aid instead of soda. Try whole wheat pasta, takes getting used to at first, it does taste a bit different. But once you get into it you won't want the regular stuff anymore.
You'd be very surprised where carbs are hiding, bread, salad dressing, yogurt, and all sorts of food products today contain high fructose corn syrup. Read the labels. Talk to a diabetic.
those diet programs have one thing in common with Apple: they rip people off.
I suggest you start by cutting out all processed white carbs...white flour, cane sugar, white rice etc. Substitute 100% whole grains, honey and brown rice. Fruits and vegetables are full of fiber and vitamins that you need so really no need to cut those out. We need to eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day. Limit the fruits to no more than two helpings and make your other three servings in the vegetable department.
These simple changes will reduce your carb intake and your craving for them. With the same number of calories you will feel more satisfied and full having increased your fiber and nutrient intake. The over processed white flour, cane sugar and white rice are fairly empty calories nutritionally and leave you craving more.
buy wieght watchers bread, instead of having your stirfry with rice or noodles just make enough veggies and meat mix to fill you. There are also noodles made out of eggs that i think are low in carbs alos if you do eat crbs eat tehm in the morning so you have the whole day to burn it off. no bagles they are the same as four slices of regular bread. oh and i would eat whole wheat crbs if you are eating them, they are little higher in carbs that the while stuff but you will need the extra nutriants if you are cutting back.
Good luck!
I just started out doing little things, like buying whole wheat pasta instead of regular and whole wheat bread instead of white bread. I still get to have my carbs, but they're the healthier kind of carb :)
just be aware of what you're eating - buy or go on line and print out a carb counter. steer away from most things white/starchy - be sure and includes lots of veggies and protein, fish, chicken - check that carb counter b4 choosing the veggies - and, one plus - the protein will keep you from being hungry so you will naturally want to eat less! good luck
