Working out at the gym.......routine??

Question: Well just joined the gym (again, but last time I actually used it. Used to be fit and in shape, not so much anymore...oops....) Ok so anyways, Here's the plan. Overweight....looking to lose about 60 pounds. Starting Monday Jan. 8 would like to start working out and hopefully (cross them fingers!) would like to lose atleast 30+ pounds of that by April. Possible? I will also stop drinking pop (bad, i know) and drink WAY more water. And eating healthier (i.e. no more fast food, junk food etc...) I will be working out for an hour. Would like to lose weight and tone up. When it comes to the cardio equipment, what would be my best bet to burn the most calories? How long on each one? And what about weight machines? No free weights please. OoOo and what's a good thigh shrinker/toner? :) Yup, pretty much the works! haha-ANY advice I'd love and appreciate!!! Oh and for the jerks out there, please don't answer liposuction......get a life.) Thanks bunch!
Answers: Good for you! Bring an ipod ;) I love the elliptical cardio machine, there's no impact and you can burn a lot of calories quickly. I like the interval setting and challenge yourself on the resistance. I always do a least 45 minutes and can burn at least 450 calories and try to go a little further distance each time. I like the HIIT style of cardio http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit... but I do this style for longer than stated on the tables in this website. Whatever cardio machine you choose just challenge yourself.

I weight train for an hour before cardio, I do upper body(bench press, bicep curls, push downs, etc on mon and thurs and legs n back and tues) I recommend getting a personal trainer, at least for the first time to show you how to properly use the machines, and to motivate you.

The cardio will help facilitate fat loss and the weight training will help gain muscle and boost metabolism.

good luck and have fun!
