Answers: have a diet
Don't lose 40 lbs. If you lose 40 lbs, you'll look emaciated.
I'm 5'8 and 165 lbs. You are not fat. I don't think I'm fat, and anyone would say I was crazy if I did think that.
However:
Keep eating. The occasional cookie or treat is fine; an all-out diet cutting everything that's not vegetables is hard to stick to. Try to follow the food guide. If you feel you're eating all the time, make it fruit or veggie sticks. When I was in university, I was a stress eater, and I couldn't get any work done unless I was consuming something, so I drank herbal tea, which is pretty much as good as water.
If you're happy with your diet, then get some regular exercise. Go for a half hour walk at a swift clip every day, or every day that you can. Take up a sport. Get really involved in gym class. Just get your heart rate up.
You don't need to suffer. I suggest also speaking to a doctor about losing weight if you feel you need to.
Keep in mind that your body is still growing and changing and as you finish puberty your body may rearrange itself.
I think that the most important thing is finding an equilibrium in which you are healthy and happy with your body.
Good luck!
well you sound fine to me..the most you should lose is 15 pds because your tall. jog for 15 min a day, do about 100 crunches, and eat steamed veggies/meat, salads etc.

be confident!
