Can acid reflux kill me??

Question: Is acid reflux disease really that big of a deal? can or will it cause death? my doctor never really talked to me about it and i am not finding a good website. he keeps upping my dosage and whatnot and it keeps getting worse! Please someone help!
Answers: You are not responding to treatments for acid reflux disease and there are many causes for that. Fortunately there are many actions available to reveal these causes. Endoscopy, esophageal acid monitoring and esophageal motility studies are useful tools to solve such a problem. You need to consult your doctor and talk about these helpful measures.
Acid reflux is curable once you follow you doctor's advice about your food, lifestyle and proper medications.
Serious complications would result from treatment failure or no treatment. These in the long run may include: difficulty in swallowing when the esophagus is narrowed at the site of an ulcer which may also cause bleeding. Another complication is Barrett's esophagus which is a pre-cancerous condition.
If you feel that you are getting that worse, hurry up and see your doctor.
I also have reflux and I'm taking meds for it. It's more of a comfort thing than a life-or-death condition in my case. It can be dangerous to have depending on the severity though.

If your meds aren't working, you may have to discuss surgery with your doctor.

Best wishes.
If he's upping your dosage and it gets worse, you might be allergic to the medication!! See another doctor if you can.

Do not drink soda. It can reduce acid reflux. There are good websites out there, but stop taking the medication, unless it gets even worse. Play it by ear.
