Is there a website that shows symptoms, illnesses & treatments??
Question: my 15 month old son hasn't eaten or drank anything all day. he had a bit of a cold & we're giving him dimetap. It only started this morning. He has been offered a variety of foods but he won't try anything. He hasn't had diarrohea at all.
Answers: Not eating is common for young children with colds. Is he drinking? That is VERY important. Make him drink, preferably Pedialite (since he's not eating). Pedialite will help keep the electrolytes in order, since the child is not eating. Only give milk or formula for mealtime (if he has drainage or chest congestion, milk and formula will make it worse).
You need to get him in to see his Pediatrician as soon as you can. You want to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. If he starts to have diarrhea, get him to the ER, this is a sign of dehydration.
It should be OK to wait and see his Pediatrician if they can see him tomorrow or the next day. ER's are for true emergencies, and the child should be fine if given enough to drink. If his Pediatrician can't see him in the next day, try taking him to an Urgent Care Clinic - most doctors there are Family Practitioners, and have treated many young children and toddlers.
Good luck with you young one. Hope he feels better soon
yeah...if he hasn't had anything to drink..that is a problem...if i were you, i would find my way to the nearest emergency room..you have a baby and you shouldn't take chances with that...dehydration can bring on a series of problems...take your kid to be seen by a dr....now! if it's nothing, you can't beat peace of mind and knowing that your kid is not going to suffer....
