How does one apply for social security disability ???
Question: Is there a website online?
Answers: You need to submit your application by phone, mail, or in person at any one of their local offices.
call 1-800-772-1213 or your local social security office.
They will set up a phone interview asking you the day you became disabled, name, address, D.O.B and what type of jobs you have had in the past and what type of work you do, ect. How many hours you stood, sat, crawled on job.
Then they will send you a paper saying that you do not qualify for disability and that is when you call a lawyer and they will fight for you. You always get turned down the frist time.
I must add don't start working while you are waiting on disabiltiy to make a ruleing or they will deny you. After you get on it they will allow you to work part time if you can.
I am disabilied and I just got mine. I filed in May 2005 and yy court date wasn't until 04-03-07 and my checks didn't start up until 06-04-07. I had to wait a loooooong time.
Please note: If you didn't pay alot into them you will not get a lot on your monthly check. If you are not married you and you can file for SSI and get it I think you can get like $550.00 a month. Amount my very were you live.
On disability alone you get Medicare that want kick in until 2 years after the 1st day you filed. Something like that and Medicare only pays 75% of your hospital and Dr bills. IT DOSE NOT cover your meds.
On SSI you can get medicade.
SSI office can answer all your questions better then I can. I hope this helps you out.
Just to let you know my monthly check is $247.00 a month. I used to hear stories people got $500.00 plus, but as I said above it depends. You might want to ask them how much you would get if you win. If it is not enough to live on and you can at least work part time I would work part time you can make more money that way.
Good luck.
