LEFT or RIGHT??
Question: Why do i throw and catch left(balls, spear etc), play racketsports right(handed)
play soccer left, write right?
Answers: there are different degrees of left-handedness, in so much that some scientists prefer to refer to right handedness and non-right handedness instead of right and left handedness (Gorynia & Egenter, 2000). Annett (1985) comments that the very question ‘are you left or right handed?’ implies a simple dichotomy, which does not exist, as hand preferences are continuously variable between individuals. When given a questionnaire which asks about hand preferences for actions aside from writing, such as dealing cards and throwing a ball, it becomes evident that many people are ‘mixed-handed’, that is, that they show inconstant hand preference between different actions (Annett, 1999). Annett (1970, as cited in Annett 1985) found that only 3-4% percent of the participants given her hand preference questionnaire were consistent left-handers, while 30% showed a mixture of preference, and 50% used the left (or either) hand for at least one action. Additionally, it has generally been found that left-handers as a group show more mixed-sided handedness and other lateralities.
Handedness is not the only lateralisation; people also have arm, leg, foot, ear, and eye preference, most of who prefer the right side.
Hope that helps: if you want more info, read McManus' 'Left, hand right hand', it's really interesting!
Not sure. Probably just how the sports originated.
I'm a right-hander.
I'm right handed and I kick a ball with my left foot, I can't kick with my right. so don't feel like a weirdo..
Because your ambidextrous
The coordination it takes to do these things are probably in different sides of the brain.
