Smelly dreadlocks: how can i get my man to make his smell better??
Question: i'm not sure whether its the wax he uses or what, but they smell so awful that i have to throw his pillows off the bed when i'm sleeping alone. i need to be as polite as possible when i bring this up to him, and i'd like to be able to suggest a solution instead of just complaining that he stinks. thanks!
Answers: You're supposed to wash dreads... if he's not then there's the reason for the stink.
If he is washing his dreads then the stink could be from mildew growth due to improper drying of them... in which case the only cure is really to chop them off.
could be the hair they used to put them in. some of that cheap stuff really reaks! And no amount of washing will get rid of it.
buy him some good smelling shampoo.
They are filled with bacteria. I would Lysol them and his piilows in his sleep. If he caught me, I would wear there was a huge bug on the bed and I freaked out, thus grabbing the first can I saw to spary the bug :-)
If it were me, I would want to know if my hair was that funky so that I would not be embarrassing myself. Tell him and hopefully he will take it constructively.
1 :: This could be due to a build up of wax, stop using it now, its not needed.
2 :: If you wash your locks and not letting them dry properly you could have mold growing in there
3 :: It could be because you are not washing them!!
I would recomend you stand in the shower running hot water over them to get as much wax out as you can.
Buy some Apple/Cyder Vinigar from the local shop and get a basin of hot water and add the Apple/Cyder Vinigar and soak your hair in it, then after soaking, leave to soak in and then give your hair a real good wash with from residue free shampoo, the Vinigar will kill anything and also gives them a real good clean!!!

he could always shave his head and that will eliminate the smell forever untill it grows back
