Is my contact prescription right??

Question: I had an eye exam today for a new contact prescription. My old prescription was -2.00 for left and -1.25 for the right. After my exam today i was told that the left is -1.25 and the right was
-0.75. I have no idea what the numbers mean. Has my vision gotten worse or did I get the wrong prescription today. I want to order new contacts but don't want to waste money if this is the wrong prescription for me.
Answers: When in doubt, call your eye doctor's office and ask the optician. Never hurts to double check. Just explain that your Rx last time was -2.00 and -1.25 and now the doctor told you at your exam today that it was now -1.25 and -0.75 and you'd just like to make sure that you heard him correctly.

That being said, your eyes can flucuate from year to year. They don't *always* get worse; sometimes they actually do improve a little bit one year, and then usually go back the other way next year, ESPECIALLY if you are under still a teenager. During puberty, your eyes seem to go crazy, just like the rest of your body while you're coming into adulthood and so sometimes your prescription seems to be all over the place until it stabilizes in your late teens, early twenties.

Did they give you any contacts to take home with you? If they did (they only give trials if you are wearing a disposable type contact lens) try them out and see how they work for you. If your old contacts were blurry, and your eyes have actually gotten a little better, than it could be that they were actually too strong for you. So try them out and see how they work. But, I would definitly call your doctor and double check, just to be on the safe side.
weird........
it seems like your sight got............ better

-2.00 is a higher prescription than -0.75.
the smaller the number is, the better your sight is.

Your sight either got better or you should get another exam
Depending on your age it could change but it usually doesn't decrease in power like yours has. But there might be another reason for this that the doctor didn't tell you. He should have explained why he changed your prescription so I would call and double check to make sure it is right.
