Do regular eyeglasses protect from UV ??
Answers: Regular glasses can protect from UV, but only if they have a UV coating or they are a certain material like polycarbonate. Regular CR39 plastic lenses have no UV protecting properties. You can have a UV coating put on to lenses, but you would probably be aware of this because you would have to pay extra for this feature. Also the material polycarbonate it is known for its impact resistance and it provides UV protection.
So regular eyeglasses can protect from UV if they have a special coating or if they are made out of a material with UV protecting properties. Although keep in mind most regular glasses do not provide the same coverage that sunglasses have, and when spending time outside nothing beats a pair of 100% UV protected polarized sunglasses!

NO, but they do have lenses like that. You just have to ask for them. A bit expensive, but worth it.
Not cheap types as they are mainly plastic with no UV protection at all, A good pair may cost a lot more and there should be the UV protection level on the tag as with sun block
getting them through an optician is safest as they can prescribe to your eye needs
Your eyes are worth protecting at any cost
Ask the lab manager at the store that you are buying your glasses at. At the shop I worked for several opticians would sell a UV coating for lenses even though it was already on the lenses. Wrong I know, but you do strange things for commission.
No. You have to get the lenses specially made for that.
