Contact lense question??
Question: I would like to try colour contact lenses. and dont know how to buy them .Iam not looking for go see a doctor and get fitted, but more on how to go about buying them and what to look for .All help would be greatly appreacated
Answers: Yes; there are different sizes and the only way to know which ones will fit you properly and safely is to be fitted by an Optometrist so that you know you are getting the right ones. They will most likely have some trials there that you can try on to see which colors you like. Once you've been fitted with trials from your doctor, they can give you a written copy of your pescription and you can take that to get filled online if you wish, although you will only be able to fill it with what the doctor has written down on your Rx.
The only way to obtain contact lenses legally and safely (whether the lenses have a correction in them or are for cosmetic purposes) is to have an exam and be fitted with them. If you try to cut corners by trying to get them without an exam from an eye doctor, you are opening the door to all kinds of trouble. And here's a news flash, in case you didn't know: If you ruin your eyes and lose your vision, that's it. They don't do eyeball transplants. Its not like your teeth; where you can not brush them and let them rot out of your face and then you can just get dentures. Once you've ruined your eyes; that's it.
You should definitely see your eye doctor if you want any kind of contacts, whether you need vision correction or not. The places that sell contacts to people who don't have a prescription are doing so illegally. Contacts are considered medical devices, even if they don't have vision correction in them...hence the reason for needing a prescription.
Your eye doctor needs to give you an eye exam, to verify that you do or don't need vision correction, and he/she needs to measure your pupils, so you will get the right size of contacts. Not everyone's pupils are the same size. If you get the wrong size contacts, it can lead to many problems, such as major discomfort, nasty eye infections, and worse. Also, with the colored contacts, if you don't have the right size, the colored part of the contact won't line up properly with your natural eye color, and it will look very fake and unnatural.
You should be able to get an eye exam with contact fitting at any Wal Mart Vision Center for around $100 or less. This will also include a free trial pair of the contacts. This is a great way to play around with the colors, and see what you do and don't like. The eye doctor will let you test out as many as you like.
Don't mess around with your vision; we only get one pair of eyes to last us our whole lives.
Go to www.clearlycontacts.ca
I order mine from there all the time and it's so easy. Also you can get them delivered cash on delivery, which not many site will do and then you have a month or so to pay for them by sending a money order. They have a wide range of colored contacts and they are so nice. I bought some in green and love them.
Good luck!
Its best if you go to an eye doctor so they can measure your eye. Not all eyes are the same size. Find your measurement and then get some sample pairs from the eye doctor in different colors. Then you know which ones you would really like by trying them out.
There are several different brands of coloured lenses...and every one of them has a different effect, and fit differently.
Some just enhance the colour, some will change your colour because they are more opaque.
Your chances of getting what you need are very slim by ordering online without having been fitted right to begin with.
The only sensible way to get them is to be fitted right by your optician or optometrist.
You have to have trial lenses to see the effect on your eyes.
Coloured lenses are often more difficult to get a good fit , so you can't just guess at it.
