Can i take the morning after pill while on birth control??

Question: I just started using birth control last sunday. ( a week ago exactly.) i had sex late last night/ early this morning. because im not sure the pill is fully effective yet. (even though it says on the website it takes a week...) If i wanted to go get the morning after pill, would it mess up my birth control? do you think i need it?
Answers: you should be fine all morning after pill is a stronger dose of birth control so it wont mess anything up
The pill really does only take a week to start being effective, but most doctors say to give it a month to be absolutely sure. If this wasn't the truth, the FDA wouldn't let the drug company print it in the instructors.

The MAP would not mess up your birth control, but it might make you somewhat irregular this month with your period.
the pill takes about a month to start taking effect...not sure which you are using though. i would definitely take the extra precaution and take the EC pill
Birth control is not completely effective until you've been on it one month, and been religious in taking it at the same time every day.

The morning after pill may or may not effect your BC, dependng on the type of birth control and the type of morning after pill you take. But yes I would still take it to prevent pregnancy if you didn't use protection.

There are also other types of medication that mess with BC, like antibiotics. So whenever you start a new med ask about drug interactions.
YES! The morning after pill pretty much is birth control, just in a higher dose. It's fine to do, you might just feel a little sick and you may have a little spotting. Just keep taking your birth control like normal, and then take the EC as directed on the box. But...you'll probably have cramps and just feel a little sick.
