What to do on my period??
Question: Well I am 17 years old and I just started my period yesterday! So far everything is going good! But I just have a lot of questions! I really do not have a mom figure in my life so I thought I would come here and see what advice women good give me!
My questions...
1) How long does it last?
2) How long after it ends does it start up again?
3) What kind of medicine can I take for my cramps?
4) Is there any where on the internet that I could get a period calendar? I share a calendar with my dad and I do not want him to ask what all the marks are on the calendar. I would like to keep track of my period!
Well that is all my questions for now!! I hope someone can help me here!!!
If you do know a website for a period calendar can you please make sure you remember to put it in you answer!!!
Answers: well congrats!
1. your period lasts anywhere from 3-9 days.
2. you have your period around every 28 days, since you just started it could be alot later or earlier so dont panic if your very late.
3. midol works wonders with cramps.
4. you could buy any regular calender and mark a little dot on the date you are supposed to get your period.
but keep in mind since you just started it could take up to 2 years until your periods come on a certain date(aka a regular period) your periods could be late up to 1 or 2 months (aka a irregular period)
i hope you helped and if you have any other questions just ask im here almost everyday!
Congratulations.
You don't need to find a calendar. You can get a calendar anywhere and mark it manually. Keep it in your dresser, if you like.
How long any woman's period lasts, and how long her cycle lasts, is genetically determined, so no one can tell you.
You won't necessarily experience cramps, but if you do, ibuprofen works very well. However, you really should speak with your pharmacist before purchasing any over the counter med.
Do you have an older sister or cousin? Perhaps an aunt you can talk with? A teacher whom you trust? A friend's mother whom you trust? Chose one of them and talk with them. They've all been there and can be a great help to you.
And tell your father. Look, he knows you're 17, and he knows you're growing up. He may have a bit of trouble at times thinking of you as being 17, with everything that that entails, but then again, he'll have just as much trouble, sometimes, realizing that you are 27, 37, etc. In a way, you will always be that newborn daughter, but he he knows you're not. Part of him want to keep you young and dependent on him for the rest of his life, but a larger, a much larger part of him wants you to grow up normally, to become a grown woman of whom is can be proud, to become a wife and a mother, etc. That's what all parents want for their children. Let him in on this. He'll be more than OK with it. It's hardly a strange thing for him - after all he had a partner, your mother, so he knows that cycles happen.
One more thing. It will take your body a few years to adjust to this new role, so don't expect your cycle to be regular for some time yet.
I don't have any links to sites about menstruation (personally, I'm more interested in information on menopause), but I have a long list of other links that you need to have, with information that you need to know. Please avail yourself of all of these. You many not need some of this information now, but you will and possibly within just a few months. Also, most GYN problems can be handled quite well by a gp, and if your family doctor can't handle something s/he will refer youto a GYN. You don't have to go running to a specialist for everything that you might think is a problem.
IT LASTS ANYWHERE FROM 4 TO 7 DAYS, YOUR CYCLE IS EVERY 21 DAYS FROM THE LAST DAY OF YOUR PERIOD, SO ONCE A MONTH, YOU CAN TAKE MIDOL OR JUST ADVIL OR ANY PAIN MEDICATION TO HELP WITH THE CRAMPS, EXERCISING HELPS WITH THAT TOO
First of all, check out www.beinggirl.com ... it's a terrific website and it helped me through a lot of bodily issues such as my first period. As far as it's length, generally it lasts from 3-7 days (mine is closer to 7). Right after you get your first period, it's usually not going to stay regular (like every 28 days). I would make sure for the first few cycles to wear a light pad just in case. But usually, it'll start up again 28 days from when your last one started. For a calendar, you could maybe join the following website http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/tour/onli... ...hopefully this helps! Congrats!
Well, period is different for women but it is between 4-7 days. and it will start again three weeks after the period ends. but in girls who has just started period we can not say an exact time. It may even start again two months after that. I was the same when my period started. and u can take some pills like Acetaminophen and Advil for pain.
Congratulations on moving into womanhood!! It's hard to tell how long it will last. Most often periods last 4-7 days. Normal would mean that in 28 days after the first day of your period you will start again, but that is not always the case. You may have them more often or less, since you have just started. You always want to keep track of the first day of your period and begin your count from there! You can try Ibuprofen for the cramping, also over the counter you can get Midol. That seems to work well. If you go to kotex.com, you can get a period calendar on their website to print off and make copies of! I hope this helps you out.
1) Lasts for 3-7 days. Mine goes 6.
2) The average cycle is 28 days. (This can vary by a few days either way. Everyone is different.) You count from the day your period starts, to the next time it starts. So, you might have your period for a week, then have three weeks of down-time before your next one starts.
3) Medicine to take for cramps...Ibuprofin or any other anti-inflammatory. Some people like Tylenol. Try different things.
4) Period Calendar. It would probably be easier to just buy your own calendar for your bedroom or print one off from Microsoft Word. I remember when I started my period I was mortified that they wanted me to write it on the calendar. I was all, HEY EVERYBODY, I'M ON MY PERIOD TODAY!!! . Later on I realized that I didn't necessarily have to write that I was on my period. I just put a tiny dot on the days I'm on. Nobody knows what the dot is, and nobody really cares.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
The normal period goes for 28 days in total. That means up to 7 days on and 21 days off. There are all kinds of over the counter medications for cramps try Midtol. As for a calendar, just get one at the store and mark it with a start date, count 28 days and it would be another start date. However, since you just started your period, it does take awhile for them to regulate into a regular cycle and some people never have a regular cycle (my sisters was every 3 months, mine was every 28 days like clockwork).
Hey congrats!
1) your period usually lasts 4-6 days...they may be a bit longer. (mine are 4 days with the 5th very light)
2) It usually starts up again after 21 days. Everyone is different though, some woman have irregular periods and when you just get it, it usually takes it's time to get a steady rhythm.
3) You can just ask for a pain killer for menstrual cramps - that works for me....tea (not black) helps a lot to sooth it, so does a little walk. I know it can totally just knock you off your feet but excersice helps. Also a hot water bottle at night (or during the day) is aah beautiful.
4) You should just buy yourself a small calendar for this or mark it down on your email calendar.
I have a little dark red book were I keep track of mine. I just write down the date it arrives -> the dates it ends and at the end of the line I write how many days were in between each period (21).
Like this - exactly....haha
Jan.15th -> Jan.19th (20)
Feb.11th -> Feb.15th (22)
Mar.10th -> Mar.15th (22)
Apr.5th -> Apr.10th (20)
I have a regular period.
Very simple.
It'll probably come again the 1st, 2nd or 3rd of may.....
Good luck!!!
Cheers :D
well heres your answer 1. they usually last from 4 to 7 days. 2.it usually starts up again in about 21 days from your last period 3.you can take tylenol or advil for cramps theres also this thing called mydol for cramps it helps with bloating and other stuff to. 4. you could just go to the dollar store and by a little calander to keep track and keep it in your room. congrats on becoming a women.
